reflection
This course standard 2 is identifying components related to the architectural design process. Standard 2.1 says to describe the elements and principles of design. Historical architectural styles all include early colonial, art deco, modernist styles, Georgian, and many more. Standard 2.3 states to explain the steps in the design process. The first step in the design process of any house is to figure out what you want out of your house and what you want it to look like based off of other houses or your imagination. Then you choose a color scheme for your walls and floors. Also you need to choose what materials you are going to use. To be an architect it is useful to know how to analyze a building site. This is very important because in order to draw a house correctly you need to know how to analyze a building site so that whatever you are building isn’t too big or small for the site you have. Standard 2.5 states to identify and summarize elements of sustainable design and is followed by standard 2.6, which states to interpret considerations of universal design. I met all these standards by first reading them and seeing what I already knew and researched what I didn’t. These standards have real world application because in order to be a good architect you need to know the different styles and designs of a house and also how to read building sites so you can design buildings on them. My future learning goals pertaining to these standards is definitely to learn how to analyze the building sites better and also to expand my knowledge on the different styles of buildings and houses.
