This courses standard is to demonstrate employ-ability skills required by business and industry. Communication is key when it comes to any work environment in America, especially architecture. Standard 1.1 states to communicate effectively through writing, speaking, listening, reading, and interpersonal activities. This can be done by simply writing to your peers, speaking to them, listening to them, and doing different activities together. Standard 1.2 states to demonstrate creativity by asking challenging questions and applying innovative procedures and methods. This standard can be met by asking your peers challenging questions that pertain to the project you are working on, and using their feedback to enhance your work. Standard 1.3 states to exhibit critical thinking and problem solving skills to locate, analyze and apply information in career planning and employment situations. When applying for a job using critical thinking to locate, analyze and apply information is a very important step in the whole process. Preparing for an interview is one way to use problem solving and critical thinking because you are getting yourself ready for all the potential questions you are being asked. Standard 1.4 states to model work readiness traits required for success in the workplace including integrity, honesty, accountability, punctuality, time management, and respect for diversity. This standard can be met easily by treating others with respect, being honest in all work you do, being on time and punctual for any work due or work in general, and also having good time management so that you can get work done on time. Standard 1.5 states to apply the appropriate skill sets to be productive in a changing, technological, diverse workplace to be able to work independently and apply team work skills. Standard 1.6 states to present a professional image through appearance, behavior and language which can be met by being well dressed and presented nice, having good behavior, and not using bad language when talking in a professional environment. I met this standard by communicating with my peers, showing a good image, and having good behavior. This standard has real- world application because in a real work environment communication is very vital, but it depends in the line of work you are in. My future learning goals are definitely to better my language.
